Madeira Embroidery Thread

Madeira’s beginnings can be traced back to 1919, when Freiburg, Germany’s Burkhardt & Schmidt Garnfabrik was established. Due to its strong innovation and quality-focused leadership, the company was successful in becoming the top choice for embroiderers. Following the invention of industrial flatbed embroidery machines, a corporate name more resonant and appropriate to the lovely threads was needed as global markets beckoned. Since 1975, the Madeira brand has been associated with exquisite embroidery and has become well-known throughout the world. Today, innovative and environmentally friendly methods are used at the company’s headquarters in Germany to generate about 70% of the threads that are sold.
